Would you rather eat in than take-out? Does your kitchen get the better of you? Are you more Gordon Bennett than Gordon Ramsey? If you answered ‘Yes’ then this could be the course for you.
Learn how to cook a variety of quick, easy, healthy and economical meals that are also delicious. Recipes include Thai red curry, Cheese & Bacon Quiche, Lamb Koftas and Three cheese soda bread.
You will learn how to prepare and cook each dish, plus cost-effective tips on sourcing and selecting ingredients, food handling & hygiene, food storage, using left-overs and how to adapt meals depending on the ingredients you have in the pantry. Discover how to vary each recipe so you can prepare additional dishes.
This course is specifically aimed at beginners, students and recipe-phobics although those with some experience are also welcome. To keep costs as low as possible students are asked to bring their own ingredients. Each week the student will receive a shopping list via email. Our recipes are written so you can choose how many people you want to cook for – simply bring in enough groceries for your whanau! This class is also subsidised. Say goodbye to processed food and say hello to quick, healthy, creative Kai.
At each class, students will also receive a lesson plan giving them a clear understanding of the objectives and expectations for each session. A recipe sheet will be provided so that students can take them away and build up a stock of recipes in a folder (not supplied). Each recipe gives ideas on how to vary the recipe depending on what you have in the pantry or who you are cooking for. Suggestions are also given on how to ‘pimp-it-up’ (make it look fabulous for a special occasion or ‘dress-it-down’ (adapt the recipe using quick and easy ingredients for a meal in minutes).
